Since 1921, BLP Mobile Paint Manufacturing Company has followed a commitment to produce the highest quality paints and coatings specifically formulated for southern climates. Then, like today, "BLP" stands forBeautiful, Lasting and Preservative.
Mobile Paint Company started manufacturing its "Southernized" coatings in Mobile, Alabama’s waterfront district with only one salesman and a handful of employees. After developing formulas for our subtropical region, increasing our sales staff and production employees, Mobile Paint Company eventually acquired the old Mobile Varnish Works plant and consolidated our operation there in 1934. The following year the company opened our first BLP Mobile Paint retail store.
In 1975, Mobile Paint Company moved into our present facility, a 200,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in Theodore, Alabama. From here, we ship paint and sundry items out to BLP Paint Stores and dealers in 12 states in the South and Southwest, as well as international locations in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. We now have available to our customers over 800 product lines and 3000 different paint related items. Our production capabilities exceed 3 million gallons annually.
Mobile Paint Company’s earlycommitment to quality continues, in part, due to a team of research chemists following a stringent set of guidelines for quality, as 
well as using the latest technology to develop new products for an ever-changing industry. Our laboratory has departments dedicated solely to quality control, architectural finishes, industrial maintenance andmarine finishes, and industrial product finishes (oem), staffed by chemists who specialize in those areas. This specialization enables our laboratory to work personally with the customer, or their salesperson, to develop new products or application needs for all types of coatings.
